Patrick Curlett

Patrick  is currently studying the Violin at postgraduate level with Levon Chilingirian and Malcolm Layfield at the Royal Northern College of Music. During his time in Manchester, Patrick has received a number of concerto engagements including including performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with Poole Young Soloists, Mozart’s Violin Concerto no 3 with the Dorset County Orchestra and New Forest Chamber Orchestra (2005) and Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons with the Wessex Youth Orchestra (2006). He grew up near Bournemouth into a musical family and after being a member of the National Children’s Orchestra and leader of the Dorset and Wessex Youth Orchestra’s, he received his first engagement with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the age of just 17.

More recently, Patrick has been working regularly with the Halle and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras after gaining places on their prestigious Professional Experience Schemes. Patrick is an active member at college, playing regularly in its Orchestras and Ensembles, recently leading the Symphony Orchestra in their tour of Italy. Patrick has also been a member of the Medlock String Quartet, winning the RNCM Terrence Weil competition and gaining a place on the ‘Live Music Now’ Scheme. They have since collaborated with the Edinburgh and Allegri String Quartets to perform Mendelssohn’s Octet. Patrick has been the recipient of funding from the Leverhulme and Emanuel Hurwitz trust and would like to thank them for their support.
