Peter Banks
Peter plays violin and viola with the quartet. He has been playing violin since he was four and now plays on an instrument made by his grandmother, from a tree cut down in his grandparents garden, used as benches at his parents wedding. He switched to viola when his grandmother made one for him and his grandfather made his bow.
Peter has recently performed the Telemann Viola Concerto with the Bangor Baroque Soloists in Bangor Cathedral and was the first non music student to receive the University Concerto where he played the Mozart G-Major Violin Concerto with the University Symphony Orchestra. Outside of mainstream classical music Peter is a session violinist and works regularly for Welsh (Folk / Acoustic / Rock) singer songwriter Sarah Louise as well as having worked with many other artists with Welsh language record company “Sain” (Welsh for sound). Peter appears regularly as a session musician on many BBC and S4C radio and TV programmes with many artists from North Wales.
Peter is the only member of the quartet who did not go onto music college, and instead read Chemistry, After graduating with an Honours Degree from the University of Wales he completed a years teacher training and now teaches chemistry at the world-famous Purcell School.
